Parker Ainswort on Swoop's World Primetime

Our guest on Wednesday February 23, 2011 was Singer songwriter Parker Ainsworth.

Parker brings the art of storytelling through music forth from a space that audiences can feel from the first chord. When asked to describe his signature sound Parker uses the term Patchwork Americana as he believes to be an acoustic blend of indie-folk, americana, blues and spoken word, all of the music he grew up listening to stitched into a blanket of sounds that comes across as original yet strangely familiar.

After releasing the EP “Parker Loves You” last fall, Parker toured from Los Angeles to Canada. Currently working on his second EP “Leave on the Lights”, Parker is connecting communities with a deep love of language and heartfelt melodies.

Through the listening, discovering and remembering that guided you to this point in time you have focused Parker’s music into your life and for that, he is honored and deeply grateful.

On Wednesday February 16, 2011 at 8pm/PST we are happy to have Marti Rulli author of Goodbye Natalie Goodbye Splendour is our guest. This beautifully written book delves into the mysteries and questions that, after almost 30 years, still surround the death of Natalie Wood, one of Hollywood’s most beloved actresses.

Goodbye Natalie Goodbye Splendour is the poignant story of a young, cavalier adventurer, Dennis Davern, who landed the position of Splendour Captain and how the Wagner family welcomed him into their hearts and home. Natalie’s death in 1981 sent shock waves throughout the world and remained an enduring mystery. Dennis reached out to me, his friend, and my mission to substantiate Dennis’s account led me on a personal quest for truth that spanned decades. Many of the lingering questions are solved.~ Marti Rulli

Join us as we have an opportunity to speak with Marti, who has investigated Natalie’s death for many decades and uncovered some glaring inadequacies in the investigation. As well as shining a light on what some may say are the effects that the power of celebrity and privilege played in thwarting a thorough investigation.

After our interview with Marti Rulli, Lisa Hernandez of Long Beach Depot for Creative ReUse joins us to fill us in on the Pepsi Refresh Creative Reuse Day Celebration happening on February 27th.

Join us at 8pm(PST). Listeners can call in live (917) 889-7449 or join in via our online chat. Use the “Set a Reminder Function” now and you won’t miss a minute.

On Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 6pm PST we will be broadcasting live from a benefit for UNICEF entitled “A Valentine for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.”

Civil Unions For All is holding a benefit for UNICEF at Cafe Audrey located at 6701-B Hollywood Boulevard at Las Palmas, in Hollywood, California, on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. The cafe is named after Audrey Hepburn and was chosen as the site for the benefit because Audrey Hepburn was UNICEF’s first Goodwill Ambassador. She started working for UNICEF in the 1950′s and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 in recognition of her work.

This benefit is a Valentine to the women and children of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Hundreds of women and children are raped in the DRC each day, thousands each month. The DRC has long been war-torn and despite recent “peace” the rapes continue. Please read these attachments for more information about the situation and what UNICEF is doing to help: 11-09 UNICEF, DRC VDAY; 11-7-08 UNICEF IN THE DRC.

There is a sliding scale donation requested of $5.00 to $25.00 — more if you can, less if you can’t. You are also invited to make a donation here to ensure your money goes to UNICEF’s DRC assistance program if you are unable to attend the benefit.

The benefit will feature local up and coming stand-up comics including Jimmy Zee, and Andy Quinn (graduates of Judy Carter‘s Comedy Workshop), Big Dave, Wes Greasen, and local songwriters and musicians, including Derek Haugen, Paul Weitz, and Mary Ann Vorasky.

Join us at 6pm(PST). Listeners can call in live (917) 889-7449 or join in via our online chat. Use the “Set a Reminder Function” now and you won’t miss a minute.

Jon Mulvey on Swoop’s World Late Night

On Wednesday, February 9, 2011 Jon Mulvey was our guest on Swoop’s World Late Night on ZTalkRadio.com. Of course our entire gang of Swoop, Peter, Chris and Taylor, was on board for an entire night of music, laughs, fun and adventure.

After 10 years as a member of Mingus and as protégé to legendary guitarist Joe Satriani, Jon Mulvey steps front and center with the release of a rocking collection of instrumental guitar, “This and That,” on San Francisco-based label Two Hearts Records.

The “This and That Tour” kicked off with Jon in New Zealand four days after its release late in 2010. This all original CD written and produced by Jon includes Stuart Hamm on bass and Jerry Marotta on drums and percussion.

The globe-trotting artist hails from Los Angeles, California, where he picked up his first guitar when he was just seven years old. Formal Jazz guitar training started at age 11 and he began touring internationally at 15 with top acts. He earned a music composition degree in the Bay Area and then studied under guitar great Joe Satriani. After vaulting onto the world stage, Mulvey directed his expertise to the studio, where he has participated in over 1500 recordings. But playing guitar, bass, or keys, as well as engineering, producing, and mastering albums in the studio, are only a few of his talents. c

Jon spent a decade as a member of Mingus, with Dorian Mingus (son of legendary Jazz Bassist/Composer Charles Mingus). Mulvey combined business savvy with his love for music and launched the Catastrophe Music Label with his business partner. The label has sold over 240,000 units worldwide. Mulvey has also been the lead guitarist for all these recordings.

He currently has started a new label, Two Hearts Records, focused on world and instrumental music with his new partner, Deborah Yates. Mulvey is also a sponsored clinician for Peavey Amps and Ibanez Guitars. Mulvey combines his formidable training with innate talent to help shape his projects’ unique sounds, which include world fusion band Vortex Tribe, acoustic world Due Cuori, rock’n Jon Mulvey’s Rockethouse and his other solo projects.

You can purchase Jon’s “This and That” and other products at www.TwoHeartsRecords.com and fine music stores worldwide.

On Wednesday February 2 @ 8pm PST Lady VaJayJay joined us on Swoop's World Primetime. Wherever Lady V is she's always the life of the party. Who is Lady VaJayJay you wonder? Lady VaJayJay is a fun drag entertainer, hostess and outrageous gold digger.

She’s Fun! She’s Fiesty! And don’t back talk her, cuz she just might have a knife in her purse, and she will cut you up! She is an outrageous persona created by Vic, an Asian/Puerto Rican American gay man, (now we all know why he/she is confused in the first place), with an engaging smile and and the oh-so-intriguing ability to strut his stuff (her stuff? one never knows for sure) in front of a crowd of guys. His. . . umm. . . her mission is to shock you, amuse you, and entertain you like you’ve never been entertained before. And she’s just the guy who can do it . . . no, no . . . he’s just the gal that can do it! Aw hell, don’t worry about it!
